Lattice Alternatives 2026: 7 Performance Tools Compared

August 19, 2026
By Jürgen Ulbrich

Lattice will retire its HRIS and payroll products by July 31, 2026, narrowing the platform to reviews, OKRs, engagement and compensation. With per-seat costs rising and AI features still thin, buyers are now shortlisting Leapsome, Personio and Sprad instead.

If finance is angry about the mandatory annual minimum, you are looking at a different shortlist than if a manager simply never opens the tool, or if legal just discovered that EU customer data still leaves the EU under Lattice's own privacy terms.

Four numbers matter most once you start comparing:

  • Entry pricing starts near $3 per user a month at Leapsome and Sprad, both well under Lattice's realistic $19 to $22 stack.
  • A steep learning curve is Lattice's top complaint, cited 71 times in G2's aggregated pros and cons summary.
  • Personio and Kenjo replace the HRIS and payroll Lattice is dropping, both hosting EU data natively in Germany.
  • Sprad's Atlas AI drafts a review in about 20 minutes, down from the roughly three hours a manager spends writing one alone.

Why Are Teams Actually Leaving Lattice in 2026?

Look past the marketing page and one reason keeps coming up more than any other: the real cost. Setup headaches and managers who never open the tool run close behind, and AI that still feels bolted on, plus data that doesn't actually stay in the EU, rounds out the list. None of this is a one-off complaint buried in some review.

Lattice's published pricing starts at $4 per user a month for a single module, but almost nobody buys just one. A realistic stack of Performance, Goals and Engagement lands closer to $19 to $22 per user a month, billed annually, with a mandatory $4,000 minimum contract regardless of headcount, according to G2's 2026 pricing breakdown.

That floor bites hardest below roughly 25 to 30 paid seats, the point where FeedbackPulse's pricing analysis found the per-seat math finally clears the minimum. Smaller teams pay for capacity they never use, and month-to-month billing is not on offer.

The bigger change is what Lattice is taking away. The company is sunsetting its HRIS and payroll products by July 31, 2026, according to Procr's 2026 pricing review, which forces any customer who bought Lattice as an all-in-one system to find a separate home for people data and payroll before the cutover.

Once you aggregate real reviews, setup and adoption problems turn out to be the most common complaint. G2's pros-and-cons summary counts a steep learning curve in 71 mentions, limited customization in 45, and difficult navigation, particularly around the compensation module, in 44 more.

The EU hosting detail most comparisons skip: Lattice's EU data-hosting option is only available to new customers, with no migration path for anyone already signed. Even on that tier, customer data is still transferred outside the EU for processing by Lattice and its sub-processors under Standard Contractual Clauses, according to Lattice's own privacy FAQ.

Independent reviewers add a related warning: Lattice depends heavily on manager participation to deliver any value. If managers skip reviews or let goals go stale, the system goes empty, and no software can fix a manager's habits on its own.

Which Lattice Alternative Fixes Which Problem?

Each common Lattice complaint has a fairly direct answer among the tools below, and the table maps pain point to fix before the full profiles further down.

Why people leave LatticeAlternative built to solve it
Per-seat cost plus the $4,000 annual minimumSprad (from €3/user/month) and Leapsome (from $3/user/month), neither with a forced floor
Configuration sprawl and a steep learning curveSprad's single-page manager and employee view
Weak manager adoptionSprad's Atlas AI (automatic meeting prep) or 15Five's Kona AI coaching add-on
AI sold as a separate paid layerLeapsome and Sprad, both building AI into the base price
EU data residency gapsPersonio (native Frankfurt hosting) and Kenjo (German data centers)
Losing HRIS and payroll in the 2026 sunsetPersonio and Kenjo, both full HR suites rather than performance-only tools

The 7 Best Lattice Alternatives, Compared on Price and Fit

Seven tools cover most of what a Lattice buyer actually needs, from a straight performance-review swap in Leapsome and Sprad to a full EU-hosted HR suite in Personio and Kenjo, with Culture Amp, 15Five and Deel Engage filling the space in between.

ToolStarting priceBest forKey difference
SpradFrom €3/user/month, all-inclusiveScale-ups and agencies that want live reviews in under three hoursAtlas AI drafts reviews and preps 1:1s from data already on file, EU-hosted
LeapsomeFrom $3/user/monthTeams that want AI included, not billed separatelyBerlin HQ, native EU hosting in Germany, ISO 27001 certified
Culture Amp~$5-9/employee/month for engagement, quote-basedOrgs combining survey and engagement data with performanceThree hosting regions to choose from, though the company itself is Australian-domiciled
15FiveEngage $4, Perform $11, Total Platform $16/user/monthTeams wanting a distinct AI manager-coaching layerKona AI coaching is a separate $19/manager add-on
PersonioCore ~€5-8/employee/month, fuller suite ~€12-20Teams needing a full EU-native HRIS, payroll and performance replacementData hosted natively in AWS Frankfurt, GDPR-as-processor by default
KenjoStarter ~€5.40, Growth ~€9/employee/month (unlocks reviews)DACH-based SMBs wanting one German-hosted HR systemPricing and positioning specific to Germany and Austria
Deel Engage (formerly Zavvy)$20/user/monthTeams already running payroll and HR through DeelNo longer an independent budget tool since the 2024 acquisition
Watch for outdated listicles: several 2026 comparison articles still list Zavvy as an independent, budget-friendly tool. Deel acquired the Munich-founded platform in February 2024 and folded it into Deel Engage at $20 per user a month, a materially different price and vendor relationship than Zavvy's original standalone positioning, according to TechCrunch's coverage of the deal.

Culture Amp and 15Five sit at opposite ends of pricing transparency. 15Five publishes its tiers directly on its own site, while Culture Amp quotes every deal individually, so treat the $5 to $9 per employee figure above as a rough guide pulled from third-party procurement estimates, a number the vendor itself has not committed to in writing.

The DACH pricing caveat: Kenjo's Starter and Growth prices and Personio's cost estimates are anchored to the German and Austrian market. A team hiring across the broader EU or globally should use both figures as a rough starting point and get its own quote before building a budget around them.

How Sprad's Atlas AI Changes the Review and 1:1 Workflow

Sprad's performance management workspace prices from €3 per user a month, all-inclusive, and is built to go live in under three hours with expert coaching rather than a multi-week rollout project.

The interface replaces the multi-module dashboard most legacy tools default to with one page for managers and one for employees, covering goals, feedback and reviews in a single view.

Atlas, Sprad's AI agent, drafts a performance review directly from the goals, 1:1 notes and peer feedback already logged in the system. The vendor states this cuts review-writing time from around three hours to roughly 20 minutes per direct report, and one software company running a full cycle on Sprad saw review prep speed up by 60 percent.

The same agent prepares 1:1 meeting agendas automatically, pulling context from Slack, Jira, CRM and HRIS tools, so a manager walks into the meeting with the history already pulled up.

Atlas runs on EU-hosted infrastructure certified to ISO 27001, is built to be GDPR and EU AI Act compliant by design, and Sprad states it never trains external models on customer data.

Which Alternative Is Cheapest, Simplest or Most AI-Forward?

Four labels answer most of the shortlist question directly, though team size and growth stage should still override any single one of them.

  • Cheapest overall: Leapsome and Sprad, both starting near $3 per user a month with no forced minimum.
  • Simplest to roll out: Sprad's one-page experience, live in under three hours.
  • Most AI-forward: Sprad's Atlas and Leapsome, since both build AI into the base price.
  • Best for scale-ups and agencies: Sprad, built around fast rollout and light manager admin.

A 40-person agency evaluating vendors this quarter has different priorities than a 400-person software company that already runs a separate HRIS and just needs performance and OKRs to work. Match the label to your actual constraint, whether that is budget, headcount or your existing HR stack.

The Real Test Beyond the Pricing Page

Every tool on this list claims to fix what pushed people off Lattice, but a few reproduce the same pattern that started the search. Culture Amp's quote-only pricing and 15Five's separate Kona add-on echo the opacity and add-on stacking Lattice buyers were trying to escape.

For teams that already know they need an EU-hosted HRIS to replace what Lattice is dropping, Personio or Kenjo make sense as the first call. For teams that only ever wanted performance management done well, Sprad's performance workspace or Leapsome's base-price AI are worth a live pricing check before any renewal gets signed. Our guide to comparing performance management software archetypes walks through the fuller selection process if price and AI depth are not the only criteria on your list.

Whichever direction fits, run the same test on every finalist: ask for a written quote based on your actual headcount, and time how long a real manager takes to finish one full review inside the tool.

Is Leapsome actually cheaper than Lattice?

Yes, on a per-seat basis. Leapsome lists pricing from $3 per user a month with AI included, while a comparable Lattice stack of Performance, Goals and Engagement runs $19 to $22 per user a month before its $4,000 annual minimum applies.

What happens to data in Lattice's HRIS before the 2026 shutdown?

Lattice has not published a migration tool for the July 31, 2026 cutover. Customers using Lattice's HRIS or payroll modules need to select and migrate to a separate system, such as Personio or Kenjo, before that date to avoid a gap in payroll or employee records.

Is Zavvy still available as a standalone product?

No. Deel acquired Zavvy in February 2024 and folded its technology into Deel Engage, now priced at $20 per user a month. Buyers researching Zavvy as an independent, budget-friendly tool are looking at outdated information.

Does Culture Amp cost more than Lattice?

Not necessarily, though it depends on the modules. Third-party procurement estimates put Culture Amp's engagement-only deployments around $5 to $9 per employee a month, close to Lattice's entry tier, but a full Engage, Perform and Develop bundle commonly reaches $10,000 to $45,000 a year, which can land above a comparable Lattice stack.

How fast can a team switch from Lattice to Sprad?

Under three hours for initial go-live, according to Sprad's own product page. That covers setup with expert coaching. Full data migration and a phased rollout across every team still take separate planning, usually built around each company's own review calendar.
