Indeed Sponsored Jobs cost $0.10 to $5+ per click, which employers report as roughly $15 to $50 per application. Facebook and Instagram job ads cost a median of $13.88 per applicant across 891 frontline campaigns, from $2.71 for customer service to $74.62 for therapy roles. The two numbers are not the same unit, and they reach different people: Indeed reaches those who are already job hunting, social ads reach those who are not looking yet. Figures as of 3 October 2026.
What each channel actually bills
Comparing "cost per click" with "cost per applicant" is the most common mistake in this topic. Before you compare prices, line up the billing units.
| Indeed Sponsored Jobs | Facebook and Instagram ads | |
|---|---|---|
| Who sees it | people searching for a job | people scrolling, many already employed |
| You pay for | a click (US) or a started application (Germany) | delivery of the ad, you set the budget |
| Price signal | auction by title, region and competition | auction by audience, ad quality and region |
| Reported cost | $0.10 to $5+ per click, about $15 to $50 per application | median $13.88 per applicant, average $8.02 |
| Minimum | $5 per day, $25 per job reported since 2025 | no platform minimum, a useful test needs a few hundred dollars |
| Applicant lands in | Indeed's inbox | your form, chat or your own pool |
Sources differ on one detail. For the US, guides report billing per click, and say pay per application ended in December 2023. In Germany, Personalwirtschaft reported a switch to pay per started application on 1 March 2024. Check your account, because Indeed changes this by market.

Indeed Sponsored Jobs: the cost in detail
- Clicks: $0.10 to $0.50 for rural or low-competition roles, $3 to $5+ for competitive roles in big metros.
- Budget limits: a minimum of $5 per day and a maximum of $499, with a $25 floor per job. Reports say Indeed enforced the floor more strictly from July 2025.
- Typical spend: $150 to $1,200 per month for one employer, and well above $5,000 for staffing agencies in competitive metros.
- Per application: $15 to $50 is the common range in guides, based on employer reports. Indeed publishes no official figure.
For one-time roles in markets with many active job seekers, this is a fair price. The weakness shows in trades and healthcare, where a single click can approach $45 before anyone applies, as Boostpoint reports for skilled trades.
Facebook and Instagram job ads: the cost in detail
The 2026 Social Job Advertising Benchmark by Boostpoint covers 891 frontline campaigns. The volume-weighted average is $8.02 per applicant, the median campaign $13.88. By role the median runs from $2.71 for customer service and $3.76 for caregivers, to $9.83 for warehouse and production, $26.86 for CDL drivers and $74.62 for therapy roles.
Two things move the number more than the ad auction. First, the form: campaigns with an application completion rate of 20 to 35 % reached $4.41 per applicant, those under 5 % cost $53.77. Boostpoint attributes about 70 % of the cost variation between campaigns to what happens after the click. Second, the rules: in the US and Canada, Meta treats job ads as a special ad category, so you cannot target by age, gender or ZIP code and need a location radius of at least 15 miles. Check the current limits for your country before you plan.
Worked example: one role and five roles
These are arithmetic on the figures above, not promises. An "applicant" is a submitted form, not an interview and not a hire.
One role, 20 applicants
- Indeed: 20 x $15 to $50 = $300 to $1,000.
- Social ads at the median: 20 x $13.88 = about $278. For a warehouse role (median $9.83) about $197, for a CDL driver (median $26.86) about $537.
Five roles
Five roles with 20 applicants each cost $1,500 to $5,000 on Indeed at the reported range, and about $1,390 on social ads at the overall median. With Sprad Social Recruiting you set one ad budget and split it across roles: €3,000 of budget for five roles costs €3,300 in total (budget plus 10 %), and the €300 pays for the pre-screening and the talent pool, not for more reach.
Which one should you use?
- Use Indeed Sponsored Jobs for office, tech and urban roles where people actively search, and for a single urgent opening.
- Use social ads for nurses, drivers, tradespeople, warehouse and hospitality staff, who often do not search job sites at all. They scroll on their phone and reply on WhatsApp, as we describe in our guide to frontline recruiting by phone and WhatsApp.
- Use both if a role is hard to fill: Indeed for the searching 20 %, social for everyone else. Measure cost per qualified applicant after two weeks, not cost per click.
Hidden costs on both sides
- Started is not qualified. On either channel the real cost is the time your team spends sorting people who do not fit.
- Reach is rented. When the budget stops, Indeed's applicants stay in Indeed's inbox and the audience disappears.
- Slow replies lose applicants. The answer window for frontline roles is hours, not days.
- Setup effort on social. Ad copy, creative and a short form take work that Indeed's template does not.
The Sprad approach: your own pool instead of rented reach
Sprad Social Recruiting runs job ads on Instagram and Facebook, where nurses, tradespeople, drivers and other frontline workers spend time every day. An AI talent agent pre-screens every applicant via WhatsApp, phone or web. Every applicant lands in the employer's own talent pool, so the relationships stay with the employer instead of a platform. Pricing is ad spend plus 10 %, from a €1,000 budget that can be split across roles. Learn more on Sprad Social Recruiting and on the pricing page. FAQ
How much does Indeed Sponsored Jobs cost?
Clicks cost $0.10 to $5+ at auction, with a $5 per day minimum and a reported $25 floor per job. Employers report $15 to $50 per application and $150 to $1,200 per month (as of 3 October 2026).
Is Facebook cheaper than Indeed for hiring?
For frontline roles it often is: the median Facebook and Instagram campaign costs $13.88 per applicant, against about $15 to $50 per application on Indeed. The units differ, so compare cost per qualified applicant on your own data.

It depends on the market. For the US, guides report billing per click since December 2023. In Germany, sponsored jobs are billed per started application since March 2024 (Personalwirtschaft).
Which channel gives better applicants?
Indeed delivers people who actively search, social delivers a wider group that includes employed workers. Quality depends more on the form and your response time than on the channel.
